Artisans cast bronze drum in Ha Long

VietNamNet Bridge – Ten artisans from the Dong Son bronze drum village in the central province of Thanh Hoa cast a 49kg bronze drum at the Tuan Chau tourist site in Quang Ninh Province on the occasion of the Ha Long Carnival.

 

To cast a 49kg bronze drum, artisans needed 70kg of red bronze.

 

 

The mould was made of clay.

 

The professional artisans, who cast a 49kg bronze drum at the Thang Long Royal Citadel Spring Festival in Hanoi earlier this year.

 

Starting the job.

 

To melt bronze, the temperature must be maintained at between 900 and 1,200oC.

 

 

Bronze melted down in 30 minutes.

 

 

Pouring the liquid bronze into the mould.

 

 

The bronze drum took shape after one hour.

 

Artisans removed the clay mould.
