VietNamNet Bridge - Since the beginning of the flood season, Hanoians passing by the 100-year-old Long Bien Bridge every day can’t help from being frightened as they watch a group of children plunge into the Red River from the height of 15 metres.

Despite the onlookers’ efforts to stop the kids from such a fatal game, these wannabe stuntmen stubbornly risk their life nearly every afternoon.

According to one member of the group, the kids started jumping head down into the river two years ago. The dangerous game was triggered by street children living under the Chuong Duong Bridge’s piers. Gradually, the killer game has been attracting more and more local children.

Thoughtful adults have tried their best to prevent the game since its early days but they’ve failed. To the bold and impudent kids, diving nose down is more than just a game, but a chance to show off their bravery. The kids who want to be heroes compete with each other, based on three levels according to height.

The toughest level is dubbed a triangle, in which children climb to the highest peak of the Long Bien Bridge which has a triangular shape. The second level entails jumping out from the bridge arches, and the third one involves jumping from the bridge banister.

Many children start complaining about pain in their chest, muscles or skin immediately after they complete their flying stunts. However, the number of daring falls is still increasing, with the only possible solution possibly coming from adults.
