New IMF General Director to visit Vietnam

VietNamNet – Rodrigo de Rato, the new General Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will pay a working visit to Hanoi on June 26. He will also meet with the press on the same evening.

 

According to IMF’s Vietnam office, Mr de Rato will talk with government officials and heads of the State Bank this Saturday, June 26.

 

Mr Rodrigo de Rato was appointed IMF General Director to replace the former general director, Horst Koehler, who resigned in March 2004 to stand as a candidate in the German presidency.

 

After assuming the position on June 10, Mr de Rato formulated a tour of several developing countries, including Vietnam.

 

He will also visit other Asian countries, including China, Japan and Singapore. He will possibly also tour several countries in Africa and Latin America.

 

Mr Rodrigo de Rato, 55, is the former Finance Minister of Spain.
