VietNamNet Bridge – Hundreds of fans of the King of Pop joined a unique celebration of their idol at the first showing of the musical documentary “This Is It” in Hanoi on November 6.
Hanoi’s movie theatres have gotten hotter since the early November launch of the documentary with the last images of Michael Jackson. Sony Pictures did not introduce the film to Hanoi in a press conference. Still, fans showed their love for the King of through special commemorations.
On the first day of “This Is It” in Vietnam, November 6, hundreds of fans grouped at the MegaStar Cinema. Over one hour before the show, members of the Michael Jackson Club warmed up the audience with classic Michael Jackson dance moves.
Young people wore special clothes to imitate Jackson, passionately sang “Billie Jean,” “Thriller” and “Black or White” and floated around doing the moonwalk.
Other fans chanted “We love Michael Jackson!” They carried posters of “This Is It” or paper-made flowers.
“We come here to welcome the documentary about Michael Jackson in Vietnam,” exclaimed Tu Michael, a representative of the Michael Jackson club in Hanoi.
“I hope that through this film, people may understand the true nature of Michael and the message he wanted to deliver to the world. On this occasion, we want to prove that the power of Michael’s music still exists in the Vietnamese community, especially among young fans,” Tu explained.
Pham Thuy Vi, MegaStar Hanoi’s manager, said that the number of sold tickets for “This Is It” accounted for over 60 percent of total tickets sold on November 6. MegarStar also lent fans its waiting room and audio equipment to organize the commemoration.
