VietNamNet Bridge – The HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera and talented young violinist Bui Cong Duy will stage a special performance at HCM City's Opera House tomorrow.

| Bui Cong Duy. | The romantic concert will feature, among others, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35.
In a 30-minute solo, Duy will show off the skills which helped him become the first Vietnamese to win the top prize at the "P.I.Tchaikovsky" international competition for young violinists in Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 1997.
The evening will open with Dvorka's Carnival Overture, Op.29, performed by the orchestra and conductor Tran Vuong Thach.
Born in a traditional family in HCM City, Duy began studying music at the age of five from his father, musician and violinist Bui Cong Thanh. Three years later, he won the second prize at the National Competition for Young Talents in Hanoi in 1989.
He was then sent to study violin at the Glinka Conservatory in Novosibirsk, Russia.
In 1993 he won the first prize at the International Competition for Young Violinists in Russia's Ekaterinburg, and was honoured with the title The Hope of Asia.
A graduate of the Tchaikovsky Music Conservatory, Duy has performed solo in many countries, including Japan, Italy and Germany as well as with many foreign orchestras.
He now works as a music teacher at the Ha Noi Music Conservatory.
The second part of tomorrow's show will see performances by young dancers To Nhu, Bao Trung, Phi Diep, Kim Thoa and Truc Giang, five of the orchestra's most talented ballet artists.
The concert will begin at 8pm at the Opera House, Lam Son Square, District 1.
Tickets cost VND100,000-150,000 and are available at the theatre.
