| Two main characters of the film | VietNamNet Bridge – Ao lua Ha Dong (The White Silk Dress) of Phuoc Sang Film Company has been chosen to represent Vietnamese movies at the 80th Academy Awards of the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, according to the Vietnam Cinema Administration.
The Vietnam Cinema Administration has sent the introduction of this film to the organising board of the Academy Awards. Vietnam will have to fulfill several formalities to confirm the presence of this film at the upcoming Oscars.
Nominations for the 2008 Oscars will be made public on January 22, 2008. From January 30 to February 19, 2008, 5,800 members of the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will cast votes to decide the owners of the 80th Oscar gold statues. However, it is a dream for a Vietnamese movie to be nominated for an Oscar.
The 80th Oscars will take place on February 24, 2008 at the Kodak Theatre, the US.
The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognise the excellence of professionals in the film industry, including directors, actors, and writers. The formal ceremony at which the awards are presented is among the most prominent and most watched film awards ceremonies in the world.
The 1st Academy Awards ceremony was held on Thursday, May 16, 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood to honour outstanding film achievements of 1927 and 1928.
