VietNamNet Bridge – Not far from Saigon, Phan Thiet city is always popular among sea lovers. But as the Mid-Autumn Festival is coming, it is also preparing another charm: a very big lamp parade.
In fact, the Mid-Autumn lamp parade in Phan Thiet is recognised by the Vietnam Book of Records (Vietbooks) as “the biggest lamp parade in Vietnam”. And this year’s festival will only be more impressive, said Director of Binh Thuan Province’s Department of Culture Ngo Minh Chinh, since it won’t just be for children, but “a festival for the whole coastal city”.
The Children’s Dream-Tourism Future Festival will start on the night of September 24 with the big lamp parade as well as a Mid-Autumn contest. There will also be other traditional features of the Mid-Autumn Festival such as children’s singing and dancing.
The lamp parade will travel through Nguyen Tat Thanh Square as well as major streets like Ton Duc Thang and Pham Van Dong, which will also be brightened by the light from hundreds of Mid-Autumn lamps and lanterns hung in front of residents’ houses.
Children and adults from more than 30 primary and secondary schools citywide will take part in the parade showcasing scores of gigantic lamps of numerous shapes and designs and many smaller ones. The festival will last for two days until September 25.
