VietNamNet Bridge – After 10 years of painstaking research, the Lexicography Centre has released an impressive Vietnamese dictionary, the first one of its kind to be produced with professional software made by the centre itself.

The dictionary has more than 44,976 entries; 53,727 meanings as well as 73,053 examples. Nearly 22,000 examples were taken from works of literature and journalism ranging from The Tale of Kieu down to early 20th century magazines.

The dictionary is based on the biggest Vietnamese language database ever in use that has more than 60 million syllables, or 3 million sentences. According to experts, this is thus a high-quality work of research that will meet the demands of general readers and researchers alike.

The dictionary is now available at the Lexicography Centre, 3 Hang Bun, and Hanoi as well as in bookstores nationwide.
