VietNamNet Bridge – Since its first day in theatres, May 25, Spiderman 3 has filled seats in theatres even on weekdays. In the Megastar theatres in Hanoi especially, tickets are booked days before screenings.

Khai Hoang, Megastar’s vice president, said that after 3 days of screenings in Vietnam, Spiderman 3 had garnered VND1.5 billion (US$94,000) for its distributor, breaking the record set by Pirates of the Caribbean 2.

Hidden behind impressive technical effects and air battles is the message that showy appearances are fleeting and being one’s self is more important.

Despite much criticism from the media in the US for its overuse of technical effects and distracting details, Spiderman 3 has grossed US$807 million in ticket sales worldwide after 3 weeks in theatres.
