VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam Drama and Dance Theatre vice director Pham Hong Hai, an executive member of the world chorus congress, has been voted a jury member of the 1st Asian chorus congress to be held in Indonesia from November 2-10, 2007.
The world chorus congress has organised four international contests in even years. Each of them has attracted hundreds of chorus groups from 80 countries all over the world.
In recent competitions, there have been many more chorus groups coming from Asia than other continents, so the congress has decided to hold a chorus contest for Asia-Pacific in odd years.
The 1st Asian chorus congress will have 21 categories for contestants of different ages and different types of performances. Each of these categories will be divided into two sub-categories: professional and amateur. The organisation committee estimated that there would be 150 to 200 chorus groups taking part in the contest.
Besides participating in the competition, some contestants will perform at more than 10 public locations in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Due to financial difficulties, the Vietnam Drama and Dance Theatre will only send a chorus of children to represent Vietnam (chorus members will pay for their own expenses).
