VietNamNet – The Culture and Information Publishing House has released a new Vietnamese language version of Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code, revised by Duong Tuong.

Issued late last September by the Culture and Information Publishing House, the translation of Dan Brown’s novel into Vietnamese was immediately criticized by readers and language experts over the quality of the translation. The Culture and Information Publishing House temporarily ceased printing the novel and invited translator Duong Tuong to revise the first translation, which was undertaken by Do Thu Ha.

Translator Duong Tuong said that he spent nearly four months revising the translation by Do Thu Ha. Each day he worked around ten hours on the book. Apart from correcting sentences and words, he added many notes to the book because this novel mentions many concepts related to Western religions. The new translation version has 142 notes, compared to only four of the first.

Duong Tuong refused to comment about the two translation versions, although readers should spot the differences.

The price and the cover of the new translation have not changed compared to the first release, apart from the note “New publication’ on the left corner of the cover.
