An exhibition of three-dimensional graphic works to promote brands and products opened on Monday in HCM City.
The works were created for the exhibition by university students from HCM City and Can Tho and graphics professionals under a project by the HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre to train professional designers.
On show are 150 installation artworks and others created by them to highlight trademarks and functions of certain products.
For instance, Ho Hoang Quy has combined garment maker Viet Tien's trademark with the abrupt emergence of a 'man' walking out of a hole in the wall.
A young female designer has promoted the Binh Dien fertiliser trademark through a green conical hat with dummies by its side, thus achieving an emotional effect.
Painter Nguyen Tri Phuong Dong said the exhibition gave him and other exhibitors a chance to showcase their design ideas.
He said creating a nice-looking telephone was not enough - it had to be showcased in an attractive fashion to appeal to somebody seeing it,
However, he admitted that most products on the market lacked emotional appeal and left consumers, who were allured by catchy advertising, dissatisfied.
The exhibition is on at 92-96 Nguyen Hue Street.
