Starting from late September, all vehicles will be banned from moving onto the pedestrian streets every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. to ensure the safety for visitors.

Moreover, the local authorities are expected to reorganize business services in the area and provide training for vendors and household business owners to help them improve sale and service skills with a hope to attract a large number of tourists.

Earlier, Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street along the Huong River in the former imperial capital Hue has been turned into a square for pedestrians only.

Recently, the government of Hanoi City is rolling up its sleeves for transforming Trinh Cong Son Street, named after one of Vietnam’s most beloved musicians who passed away in 2001, into a pedestrian-only road since October 10 to coincide with the celebration of 63 years of Hanoi’s liberation (October 10, 1954-2017).

Following the success of Nguyen Hue pedestrian square in downtown HCMC, Bui Vien pedestrian-only street in the backpacker’s area in District 1 will be officially opened to the public this Saturday, August 19 to meet diverse demands for weekend entertainment of local and international tourists, according to a source from the Office of the HCMC People’s Committee.
