Hoi An people clean up muddy roads to welcome APEC leaders
VietNamNet Bridge - The authorities and people of the ancient town of Hoi An urgently clean up mud and wash the streets to welcome APEC leaders and their first ladies.

Functional forces help Hoi An people clean up the road when floodwaters withdraw. After a few days of floods, streets of Hoi An were covered by a thick layer of mud.

In the old town, where houses were submerged by 2m high water, roads were covered with mud and rubbish.

At noon on November 8, nearly 500 officers of the 5th Military Region with the Quang Nam provincial army and provincial border guards assisted locals with the cleanup.

Although the floodwaters withdrew, Hoi An still had small rains. All forces worked to clean up all the streets, preparing to welcome APEC leaders and their spouses , who visited Hoi An on the morning of November 11.

Hoi An Chairman Nguyen Van Dung said the city had directed all forces to be ready to clean up the streets as soon as the water withdrew.

Some places such as Hoai River Square, Bridge Pagoda and the old town – which welcomed the APEC delegates – were cleaned up.
