Taking advantage of the night, three woodmen fled. When these people ran for about 100 meters from the site, they heard several gunshots. When they returned, they found the five woodmen had been shot dead. All of the victims are residents of Quang Minh commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province.

Too scared, the three survivors found their way home to report to the police and informed the families of victims. In the afternoon of March 27, the bodies were carried home for burial.
