Quang Ninh takes the lead for school violence: survey
VietNamNet Bridge – According to the Ministry of Education and Training’s statistics, the northern port city of Quang Ninh is at the top for the number of students involved in violence, followed by the southern province of Tay Ninh.

The statistics show that in the 2011-2012 school years, there were 384 students in 12 provinces involving in violent cases, including up to 169 in Quang Ninh and 126 in Tay Ninh, followed by Lang Son (54) and Ba Ria – Vung Tau (17).

Noticeably, Hanoi is not named in the list while many school violence cases in the city were reported by the local media.

The report also points out the number of students who broke the rules and were punished, with 151 in Lang Son, 132 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and 83 in Tay Ninh. The total number for 12 provinces is 376.

In this school year, up to 14,000 students quitted school in the first term in these provinces. HCM City took the lead with over 5,600 students. Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai and Soc Trang had over 1,000 students each who did not go to school.

School violence has become a burning issue of the country’s education sector. The local media has reported a lot of fights of students recently.
