More people, particularly children, have been hospitalised due to the scorching heat which is ravaging the country’s northern and central regions.

The National Paediatrics Hospital receives up to roughly 3,000 children for medical check-ups per day these days


Temperatures in the northern region and many localities in the central region have reached nearly 40 degrees Celsius over the past few days. At some places, it has reached 50 degrees Celcius outdoor.   

The National Paediatrics Hospital is receiving up to roughly 3,000 children for medical check-ups per day. Many of them are in critical condition, facing respiratory and digestive problems, hand, foot and 

mouth disease, measles and encephalitis.

The hospital has arranged more seats, water and fans for patients and their relatives. They have also started working earlier than usual.

Meanwhile, the Paediatrics Ward of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital serves around 100 children for medical check-ups per day.

Saint Paul Hospital in Hanoi has also seen a rise of 5-7% of patients who are children per day.

Dr. Ngo Anh Vinh from the National Paediatrics Hospital warned people to come to hospital for examinations if they had unusual symptoms such as high fever, digestive disorders or had lost consciousness.

The hot weather is increasing the number of strokes reported. According to Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi, each day, the hospital receives 30 patients suffering from strokes.
