A low-pressure system in the Eastern Sea is growing stronger, causing bad weather in southern Viet Nam and the possibility of flooding due to rising tides and heavy rains.

The Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center said the tides at Phu An Station on the Sài Gòn River were expected to continue to rise for the next few days and could reach a record height of 1.68 metres.

Around November 6 or 7, stations located downstream of the Mekong River could see tides above flood warning level 3.

The national forecasting center has warned that there is a high chance of flooding in lowland areas, riverside areas and areas outside dykes in the provinces of An Giang, Dong Thap and Long An as well as lowland areas in HCM City, Can Tho and Vinh Long Province. – VNS
