The delegation from Sweden includes business leaders from various Swedish companies who are interested in understanding the urban transport situation in Vietnam and offering leading solutions in the field of public transport to Vietnamese partners. Among them are Scania & Volvo (buses), Gunnebo (entrance control), Axis Communications (surveillance), Icomera (solutions for a connected journey), KapschTrafficCom (toll road solutions) and Wate4Fuel (waste-to-fuel solutions).

“Sweden has long been at the forefront of safe, environmentally friendly and efficient transport solutions. There also exists a long-standing relationship between Sweden and Vietnam and there is great potential to take this cooperation forward in the field of infrastructure and transportation,” said Erik Bromander.

“With a fast growing middle class and expanding economy, Vietnam today is facing a number of challenges in the area of urban development, due to the country’s accelerating urbanization. Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang are actively taking on these challenges. An efficient transport network would enable people to reach their destination in the shortest possible time,” said Ambassador of Sweden to Vietnam Camilla Mellander.

In Sweden, since 1990 emissions have been reduced by 9% while GDP has increased by close to 50%. In addition, the number of traffic accidents has been cut in half from 2000 to 2013, reaching 30 fatalities per million inhabitants per year, among the lowest in the world.

Sweden is also the leader in traffic security with a ‘Zero Vision’ for deaths in road traffic. Finally, the country also offers metro systems, Bus Rapid Transit systems (BRT), transport security and eco–friendly transport. This can be attributed to some technologically advanced and very innovative companies that address different aspects and challenges within the transportation sector.
