The two-day workshop attracted the participation of representatives of Vietnamese ministries and Binh Dinh province, French Ambassador to Vietnam Bertrand Lortholary, and hundreds of scientists, policymakers, researchers, including two Nobel laureates, Professor Gerard’t Hooft and Professor Finn Kydland.

The event, which formed part of the 14th “Meeting Vietnam” (Rencontres du Vietnam) programme held by the “Rencontres du Vietnam” Association, offered a chance for delegates to meet and discuss issues related to scientific research.

Seven roundtables are scheduled to take place within the framework of the workshop, with discussions focusing on current “hot” issues such as the impacts of science on socio-economic development, science and policymaking, science and the fourth industrial revolution, and science and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Participants are also expected to discuss the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as its future perspectives seen from the world of science, technology and innovation.

Deputy head of the National Assembly (NA) Office and NA Vice Secretary General Le Bo Linh said “Meeting Vietnam” activities are chances for Vietnamese scientists and researchers to share knowledge, cooperate in research, and orient scientific and technological activities to address existing issues.

The “Rencontres du Vietnam” Association was founded in 1993 by Professor Tran Thanh Van, with the aim to support Vietnam in terms of science and education. Since 1993, a series of “Meeting Vietnam” programmes have been held in Binh Dinh, with over 40 international workshops and 16 specialised courses participated by over 3,500 scientists.-VNA
