Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien at the Q&A session

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien and Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien discussed issues under their charge at the session, which was broadcast live on Vietnam Television and Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

Tran Van Thuc, Rector of Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said Minister Thien candidly pointed out the weaknesses in the workforce while answering a question on human resources development for the tourism sector raised by deputy Nguyen Lam Thanh from Lang Son province.

He said there is a lack of universities specialising in tourism, with only tourism departments at universities.

Le Ba, a voter from An Hai Tay ward, Son Tra district, the central city of Da Nang, appreciated the hearing session as queries focused on important issues like the management and licensing of art and cultural activities and prevention of moral degradation in this field.

Minister Thien claimed responsibility for the problems in the sector, he said.

Trinh Huu Hung, Director of the Health Department of Thanh Hoa province, lauded Minister Tien’s handling of questions, adding that the official frankly discussed achievements and shortcomings in healthcare.

Nguyen Duc Thuan, Director of the General Hospital of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, suggested the Health Ministry devise measures to attract medical graduates to localities and offer more incentives to outstanding graduates to improve the quality of human resources.

Hoang Dinh Tien from Tra Ba ward, Pleiku city, the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, hoped that the ministry will map out better measures to create favourable conditions for doctors to work for a long time at grassroots-level establishments.
