VietNamNet Bridge – The delegation of the Ministry of Education and Training and Vietnamese schools signed 18 cooperation documents with Finnish partners on August 28 during a visit to Finland from August 27 to 30.

At a meeting between Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha and his Finnish counterpart SanniGrahn-Laasonen, the two sides discussed measures to promote educational cooperation between the two countries.

The two ministers witnessed the signing of 18 memorandums of understanding (MoU) between Vietnamese universities and Finnish partners, which will open more opportunity for Vietnamese students to study in Finland.

The MoU focused on the four fields of cooperation, including: transfer of textbooks and curricular, transfer of e-training technique, opening more Finnish schools in Hanoi (a Finnish school is being formed in HCM City), cooperation in training in some areas, and cooperation in training teachers.

During a meeting with the Finnish Minister of Trade and Development on August 27, the Vietnamese delegation asked the Finnish partner to provide technique assistance for educational cooperation.

The two sides also talked about Vietnam’s purchase of copyright of Finnish textbooks on maths, science, English, STEM, Vietnam’s import of training courses for general schools and university from Finland and cooperation on start-up.

Also, on August 28 Minister Nha paid a visit to the Helenski University and attended a workshop on teacher training there.

The same day, the Vietnamese delegation visited the Alto University to learn about Alto’s experience on college administration, how to attract the involvement of businesses in training and develop scientific research.

At the same time, representatives of Vietnamese general schools discussed and sought chances for exchange of students and teachers, summer activities and short-term training courses as well as modern school management models, textbooks, educational quality assessment methods, etc. from their Finnish partners.

At a meeting with Vietnamese students in Finnish, Minister Nha asked them to actively participate in educational cooperation activities between the two countries.
