Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Duc Chinh, visits the macadamia farm of MTV My Anh - Khe Sanh Company in Huong Hoa District.

In a report sent to Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee on September 12, the businessman, Huynh Van Tri, said that leaders of Huong Hoa District had not yet finished the land transfer to his MTV My Anh - Khe Sanh Company to carry out their USD37 million project as committed.

“My company was given an investment license and land rental permit in 2014 to grow macadamia and medicinal herbal plants in the area. But I still haven't been able to access some of my land. We was given 587 ha but they have only transferred 400 ha to us," the report said.

The report also expressed concern over the large number of local people grazing cows and buffalo on the company's macadamia farm.

"The cattle have destroyed nearly 300 ha of our crops which means losses of over VND 30 billion (USD1.33 million). We've managed to prevent local people's cattle from coming on our land and informed the situation to the district's authorities but the problem still continued."

In his report, Tri questioned why local authorities did not protect the rights of investors in the area, saying that their operation has been largely affected.

"My company may go bankrupt and I may have to end my investment here if the local authorities don’t take action," he said.
