Vietnam Airlines will sell all the tickets for its flights departing from HCMC to Hanoi and Danang ahead of January 13, or 10 days before beginning of the country’s biggest holiday, and after February 7. For the flights between these dates, the airline sells half of the seats it will be able to provide on these routes.
The national flag carrier will also put air-tickets on www.vietnamairlines.com and its booking offices and agents for passengers to buy for the flights from HCMC to Vinh, Haiphong, Hue, Quy Nhon, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku and Dong Hoi as well as Hanoi to Can Tho and Dien Bien before January 13 and after January 31.
Vietnam Airlines is now mapping out plans to increase flights for one month starting 15 days before the Tet holiday begins and continue to offer more airfares to the market depending on demands.
It plans to sell four more batches of tickets in the fourth quarter of this year for its Tet flights before allowing passengers to buy all the available tickets for its daily and additional flights during the holiday.
Passengers are advised to schedule travel itineraries for their Tet holiday early so that they will find it easy to buy tickets as wished.
Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific and Air Mekong offered an additional 1,000 flights during the Tet that fell on early 2011, but many customers were unable to grasp a ticket.
Budget carrier Jetstar Pacific told the Daily on Wednesday that it would soon sell tickets for Tet flights while the country’s private airline Air Mekong is currently working on its plan for flights for the holiday.
* Air Mekong is launching several major fare promotions in the run up to October, when the private airline marks one year of joining Vietnam’s aviation market.
On Friday, the carrier will begin a Happy Weekend campaign, marking down airfares available on its website at www.airmekong.vn and its booking offices and agents in HCMC, Hanoi and Quy Nhon from 9 a.m. on Friday to noon of Saturday.
The discount fares start from VND450,000 (some US$21.6) for the flights from HCMC to Phu Quoc, Con Dao, Dalat, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku and Quy Nhon and from VND985,000 (around US$47.3) for other routes.
Air Mekong has transported more than 600,000 passengers on nearly 9,000 flights since its take-off on October 10. The carrier now flies on the domestic routes linking Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Phu Quoc, Con Dao, Dalat, Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuot and Quy Nhon cities, and will add Vinh to its network on October 1.
