VietNamNet Bridge – Police on December 6 arrested a Vietnam Airline employee in Hanoi for sending anonymous messages threatening to bomb attacks on Vietnam Airline flights.
Nguyen Bang Viet, 36, is accused of sending anonymous messages which obstructed Vietnam Airlines’ international flights.
According to police, in October 2010, Viet sent text messages to the cell phone of a chief flight attendant, which informed that there was a bomb on a flight from Hanoi to Cambodia’ Siem Reap. Vietnam Airlines canceled the flight.
After that, Vietnam Airlines had to tightened security on many other flights and mobilized many experts to search for bombs but they didn’t find any bomb despite Viet’s information.
During this time, a Vietnam Airlines official also received a threatening email from Viet, which stated that there was a bomb on a flight from HCM City to Australia’s Sydney. Investigation proved that the information was wrong.
Viet was previously disciplined while working for Vietnam Airlines.
