VietNamNet Bridge – Doctors at Hanoi’s Bach Mai Hospital had
successfully saved a 650g baby from a woman who was suffering from high blood
pressure, said Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, head of the pediatrics department last
Tuesday.

Kha was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and hypertension.
5 days after being hospitalized, Kha’s blood pressure still remained high and
she was transferred to Bach
Mai Hospital’s
National Heart Institute.
However, her condition did not improve and she was moved to the Obstetrics and
Gynecology Department.
After 10 days of treatment, Kha’s blood pressure kept increasing. To protect
the baby’s life, doctors decided to operate on Kha and take out her 28 week-old
daughter on November 22.
The newborn weighed 650g and was immediately given emergency aid at the
hospital’s pediatrics department.
According to Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, the baby was saved thanks to timely aids,
including a respirator with natural air.
He said it was difficult to keep the oxygen concentration level low to keep
blood circulating in body organs and prevent Retinopathy of Prematurity.
After being treated for 2 months and a half, the baby was discharged on
Tuesday.
She now weighs 1.2kg and is in good condition.
