National Assembly approves new cabinet

VietNamNet Bridge – The National Assembly approved the new 27-member government this morning, August 3.

The new cabinet includes Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, 4 deputy Prime Ministers, and 22 heads of ministries and ministry-level agencies.

Of the four deputy Prime Ministers, two have been re-elected – Hoang Trung Hai and Nguyen Thien Nhan, and two are newly-appointed – Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Vu Van Ninh.

Among the 22 ministers and heads of ministry-level agencies, 7 have been re-elected, another 7 have been transferred from other agencies, and 8 have been promoted from the post of deputy ministers.

The new cabinet:

Four Deputy Prime Ministers:

1. Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai, 52, from the northern province of Thai Binh, an MA degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 93.8 percent of the votes.

2. Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan, 58, from the southern province of Tra Vinh, a doctoral degree and professor title holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 91.6 percent.

3. Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, 57, from the central province of Quang Nam, a bachelor degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 95.2 percent.

4. Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh, 56, from the northern province of Nam Dinh, an MA degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - 81.8 percent.

22 ministers:

1. Minister of Defense, High-ranking General Phung Quang Thanh, 62, from Hanoi, a bachelor degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 97.4 percent.

2. Minister of Trade and Industry Vu Huy Hoang, 58, from the northern port city of Hai Phong, a doctoral degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - , with 91 percent.

3. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, 55, from Nam Dinh province, a doctoral degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 93.6 percent.

4. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh, 59, from the central city of Da Nang, a bachelor degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 81 percent.

5. Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan, 56, from Hanoi, a doctoral degree holder, a professor, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 74.4 percent.

6. Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong, 58, from the northern province of Vinh Phuc, a doctoral degree holder, an associate professor, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 96.2 percent.

7. Minister, Chairman of the National Committee for Ethnic Group Affairs Giang Seo Phu, 60, from the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, a bachelor degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 96 percent.

8. Minister of Public Security, Lieutenant General Tran Dai Quang, 55, from Ninh Binh province, a doctoral degree holder and a professor, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 95 percent.

9. Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, 52, from Nam Dinh, an MA degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 94 percent .

10. Minister of Finance Vuong Dinh Hue, 54, from the central province of Nghe An, a doctoral degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 90.2 percent.

11. Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, 58, from Hanoi, a bachelor degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 87.4 percent.

12. Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son, 58, from Hanoi, a doctoral degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 90.4 percent.

13. Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Thai Binh, 57, from the southern province of Tra Vinh, a bachelor degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 87.4 percent.

14. Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang, 51, from Nam Dinh, a doctoral degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 71.2 percent.

15. Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung, 55, from the northern province of Vinh Phuc, an MA degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 92.2 percent.

16. Minister of Science and Technology, 56, Nguyen Quan from the northern province of Thai Binh, a doctoral degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 92.8 percent.

17. Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, 52, from the central province of Ha Tinh, a doctoral degree holder, an associate professor, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 79.2 percent.

18. Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang, 58, from Ha Tinh province, a member of the Party Central Committee, Party Secretary of the party cell of central agencies - with 80.8 percent.

19. Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen, 59, from the northern province of Bac Giang, an engineer, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 63.2 percent.

20. Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Van Binh, 50, from the northern province of Phu Tho, a PhD degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 92 percent.

21. Government Chief Inspector Huynh Phong Tranh, 56, from the southern province of Hau Giang, a bachelor degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 91.2 percent.

22. Minister, Chairman of the Government Office Vu Duc Dam, 48, from the northern province of Hai Duong, a doctoral degree holder, a member of the Party Central Committee - with 92.6 percent.
