VietNamNet Bridge – Nguyen Tu Manh Cuong, a gifted student in physics at Nguyen Du High School in Dac Lac Province, has won first place in the 2008 university entrance examinations, correctly answering all of the questions.

Most of the students who excelled in university entrance exams came from poor villages in rural areas.

He had the best marks on the entrance exam for HCM City’s Natural Sciences University and Banking University, with a score of 30, the highest possible score.

Cuong said his method of studying was to learn theory in class and apply that knowledge to solve exercises at home. To avoid stress, he said he did homework when he felt tense and went to bed early before the day of the university entrance exam.

Confidence was also a key factor, he said, adding that it helps students answer many questions in a short time.

Determination was important as well, though. "We should answer the easy questions first and then focus on the difficult ones. And we should check many times before handing in our exam to avoid small mistakes," he said.

Nguyen Manh Tu Cuong has received many awards during his 12 school years, including the gold metal at the April 30 Olympics Examination and an award for national physics exam for high school students.
