Vietnam and Japan look forward education cooperation

VietNamNet Bridge - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan will have a working visit to Japan from March 23-28, said Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Dung on March 20.

The visit aims to enhance education cooperation between the two countries, especially in training head-master and PhD graduate and forming a mutual education program.

Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan will meet with Foreign Minister on March 25 and Minster of Policy, Science and Technology and Minister of Culture, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology on March 24.

Annually, Japanese Government received more than 100 Vietnamese students. At present, total Vietnamese students in Japan are more than 1,000. The Japanese Government funded Vietnam more than 9.5 billion Yen during five years from 1995 to 1999 to build 195 primary schools in mountainous and costal provinces in the country.

In a related issue, Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej will pay an official visit to Viet Nam on March 24, looking to beef up economic ties and maximize the effectiveness of cooperative mechanisms.

The visit is made at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in accordance with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)’s norms.
