Under the scheme, as many as 141,300 classrooms will be built to the tune of 22.4 trillion VND to replace 140,100 temporary and 1,200 three-shift ones.
Part of the funding, around 2.8 trillion VND (175 million USD), will be put aside for construction of 1.6 million sq.m of dormitories for teachers.
The State budget is expected to contribute up to 16.2 trillion VND (more than 1 billion USD) sourced from government bonds to the funding, while the rest will be mobilised from businesses, international organisations and individuals both at home and abroad.
A central steering committee in charge of implementing the project will be set up with the Minister of Education and Training as its head.
