VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Education and Training and the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) will work together to build an international standard university in the country.

Under an accord cementing the deal, the potential Oil and Gas University will produce graduates of international quality and hire foreign professors for its faculties.

PetrolVietnam will also work with the Ministry of Education and Training (MET) to dole out scholarships for gifted students and loans for students to pursue tertiary education or conduct scientific research. The leading petroleum group has also agreed to admit university students to work as interns at its enterprises.

For the charitable purpose, PetroVietnam was committed to fund the construction and equipment of labs for schools and universities in disadvantaged areas.

“The cooperation between the two sectors will open opportunities for gifted students to be provided with a job with the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group,” said PetroVietnam General Director Tran Ngoc Canh at the signing ceremony.

Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Education Nguyen Thien Nhan said that working with industry leaders to provide industry with specific graduates is the way forwards for the country’s tertiary education requirements.

“Cooperation with local conglomerates will help the educational sector overcome financial difficulties and improve educational quality,” Nhan concluded.
