VietNamNet Bridge – Pham Duc Trung Kien has been appointed by the shareholders’ council to the post of Executive Director of the VietNamNet Media Group (VietNamNet JSC).
Until last month, Mr Kien held office as the Executive Director of the Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF). During his term, Mr Kien helped VEF achieve great success across a number of fields, as well as establishing a solid bridge in Vietnam – US relations.
“We are very happy that Mr Kien has joined VietNamNet. Mr Kien will bring to the group a solid record of leadership as well as highly valuable international skills from his experience in business,” said Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of Management Board of VietNamNet JSC.

Mr Kien said the opportunity to work with VietNamNet, was an honour and forecast great potential for the group.
When asked about his plans as executive director, Mr Kien said that he had three main goals.
First: optimisation of the structure of VietNamNet in order to ensure group’s competitiveness in domestic and international markets.
Second: creating an optimum mechanism for the group’s operation and instil a modern business culture so that the group can continue dominating the market.
Third: calling for more investment so that VietNamNet can grow rapidly and expand its business scope.
Regarding the operation mechanism, Mr Kien said he would focus on trade. Other activities related to news management or content development of the group will be managed by Nguyen Anh Tuan, the founder of the group, who is also the Editor-in-Chief of VietNamNet online newspaper and the group’s other other publications.

Mr Kien holds MBA/MA degrees from Stanford University, USA. He has much experience in international business from holding important posts in large groups such as P&G and Tenneco. He was also one of the founding members of 4Real Software and UCE.
In the non-profit sector, Mr Kien has founded many charity organizations and served in the reign of three US presidents. He was selected to join a US education programme for prominent young leaders called “The White House Fellows”
Mr Kien has been given many prestigious awards. In 1990, Stanford University named Mr. Pham among the "Most Outstanding 100 Alumni" in the school's 100-year history. |
