VietNamNet - Most automobile manufacturers have sharply reduced the prices of their sedan models as a result of competition from imported second-hand vehicles, according to the Viet Nam Automobile Manufacturers' Association.

Mercedes-Benz Vietnam recently cut the price of two of its models by US$6,000 per vehicle.

This move was followed by Toyota Vietnam, which slashed the selling price of the Corolla Altis model to $34,000 from $35,500; the Vios model to $25,200 from $25,500; and the Vios Limo model to $22,700 from $23,700.

Ford has also announced assistance in payment of registration fees for its clients.

Statistics released by the General Department of Customs showed that Vietnam has imported 84 used cars over the past two months.
