15:55' 26/04/2004 (GMT+7)
The offer focuses on the opening of service markets, including the financial and banking market.

The Trade Ministry announced completion of the 8th offer to be lodged with the Secretariat of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), based in Geneva, Switzerland.

A member of Vietnam’s negotiation group said that this offer focuses on two major contents: the itinerary and the cutting level of tariff lines for various categories of goods and the opening of service markets like finance, banking, insurance post and telecommunications.

The official also confirmed that the pressure on Vietnam regarding its opening of the service market will be much stronger in this 8th negotiation round and the itinerary of tariff cutting will be shorter.

According to WTO rules, after the Secretariat receives Vietnam’s offer, it will set a date for negotiations.

However, sources said that it is possible that the 8th negotiation round on Vietnam’s accession to the WTO will take place by the end of May 2004.
