18:05' 08/09/2003 (GMT+7)
The supermarket will sell Vietnamese wooden goods, plastic ware, and others.

The first Vietnamese supermarket in Congo will be opened this December, announced Tran Cong Hoang Quoc Trang, Chairman of the HCM City Plastic Association.

The supermarket will sell wooden goods, plastic ware, garments and pharmaceutical products from Vietnam. The supermarket is expected to not only serve Congolese customers, but will act as a transit market for Vietnamese goods to other African countries like Angola and Namibia.

According to Mr Trang, Vietnamese goods should compete well in African markets despite transport distance and fees.
