Accoridng to Mr Kich, many Japanese traders carefully studied information about tra and basa fish and some requested further details on processing, the rearing process, and export prices. 200 people attended a workshop on tra and basa fish held at the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo. Consequently, Mr Kich has asked VASEP to prepare a strategy to bring tra and basa fish to Japanese market.
At a meeting in HCM City on August 1 aimed at seeking a solution for tra and basa fish, VASEP reported that directly after the US International Trade Committee (USITC) delivered its final decision on Vietnam’s tra and basa fish, the export volume of most Vietnamese enterprises to the US fell.
However, the Deputy Fisheries Minister, Nguyen Thi Hong Minh, has announced some good news: Metro Cash&Carry is considering buying around one third of Vietnam’s total tra and basa output.
