Lebanon and Congo sized up for trade

Vietnam’s trade ministry has announced it will send a mission to Lebanon and Congo to promote trade with Middle East and African nations around mid-August.

Lebanon, with a population of around 4mil, is eyed as a goods transit market for surrounding countries, while Congo is known as a potential market with 95% of its essential and consumer goods imported annually.

The ministry is also planning to build a showroom in Congo to promote trade in the country. The showroom, the ministry said, is just one aspect of its efforts to develop a distribution network for Vietnamese products in the African market.

Congo is a large market where many of Vietnam’s goods can find a stable niche, according to the trade ministry.
