Sun Microsystems trains Vietnamese lecturers, students

VietNamNet Bridge – Around 100 lecturers from 30 universities will have access to the Java open materials of Sun Microsystems under a cooperation programme between this company and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training.

 

This is the Java Education and Development Initiative (JEDI), which originated in the Philippines three years ago and has been expanded worldwide.

 

JEDI aims to provide free of charge high-quality documents on information technology and computer sciences for universities and colleges.

 

Vietnamese lecturers and students who join JEDI can have access to abundant materials, the online Java.net community, software like NetBeans, Java SE and other online tools, as well as online curricula, sample tests, JEDI assistance and common activities of the JEDI community.

 

The Vice Chief of the Information Technology Agency Le Xuan Binh said that JEDi brings Vietnamese lecturers and students new opportunities to have access to new technology and to join the world community to upgrade and heighten their knowledge and skills.

 

Binh said the Ministry of Education and Training has benefited from cooperation programmes with the world technological community, such as developing web, open source code, and building an e-learning community in Vietnamese language.
