Vietnam to test Johnson’s Baby shampoo

Johnson's Baby Shampoo is sold in many supermarkets in Vietnam.

VietNamNet Bridge – On March 16, some supermarkets in Taiwan and Hong Kong stopped selling Johnson’s Baby Shampoo after hearing the news that Johnson’s Baby Shampoo sold in the US contained cancer-causing chemicals. In Vietnam, the Drug Administration will test this product.

 

According to AFP, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics announced that some bath products for kids in the US contain carcinogens; among them is Johnson's Baby Shampoo, which is also available in Vietnam.

 

The Chief of the Drug Administration, Truong Quoc Cuong, said the agency immediately contacted the headquarters of Johnson & Johnson in Singapore to clarify the information.

 

The Drug Administration will take samples for testing the quality of this product and announce the result very soon.

 

Some consumers who know that information said they stopped using this product. In the local market, two most popular Johnson & Johnson bath products, baby’s shampoo in yellow and in orange, are still sold in supermarkets.

 

Representatives of Big C and Coop Mart said they still sell these products because they haven’t received any information from the competent agency.

 

“In case competent agencies release official announcements about the quality of this product, we will immediately move them out of the shelves,” said Quynh Trang, Big C’s PR Manager.

 

Johnson & Johnson products for kids in Vietnam are imported from Malaysia.
